Jerks at work.
Yeah.. that's right. Holy shit. You can say it... you're just on the internet, probably home alone on a friday night... just say it. Holy shit.

Just one background finished by the obnoxiously talented Mr. Miller. My contributions? The stink lines.
Awwww... he's so quiet when he's sleeping.
Charicature break. God I am hideous. With Andrew singing into a fleshy microphone.

Hey... hey! Where the dogs go?

Blog, blog, blog, blog, blog, blog....

THAT TEACHER HAS A GUN>>> RUN!! F*CKING RUN!!!

The finished kid, affectionately named lil' Troy.
The teacher. Due to festival rules and regulations the gun was removed and replaced with chalk. LAME.

My hands ae so swollen from blogging.

Here's some rough sketches of the kid and teacher (or as Alex would call her, Mom... deep seeded psychological problems at work here)

Here's me with my sanity slowly slipping away and working on character designs while teammates offer helpful advice that in no way made me want to gut them and send their innards to their mother via ups.

The TUESDAY of KAFI CARTOON CHALLENGE of DANGER and CHALLENGE

Day 2 T-minus 6 hours

Early/Late Night Post

Its 1:30am and things are running smoothly. We have had a pretty exciting time since the last post. There is a local TV channel making a documentary about the KAFI challenge, so the camera crew have been coming in and out of the room that we are working in. We were informed that we are one of two teams that they have decided to focus on more than the others team. Michael, the cameraman, told us it’s because we are much more talkative and energetic compared to the other teams. He sat us down as a team to ask us questions and interview us, even though Mike had to work during the whole thing. :( That took a little while because we were cracking jokes and talking a whole bunch. Michael had to change tapes because we filled one up, but no worries no work time was lost (thanks to Mike!!!)

As of right now we have the characters designed, we are just working on different hands for the characters, making color choices to go with the characters, background, and props. Like I said, things are running smoothly as of right now. If things go right, Nate will be rigging the characters soon, and we will begin animating tomorrow. This means Nate will be staying up all night, but he can rest up tomorrow once we start animating. Andrew might have to stay up a little bit to work on backgrounds, but he can also work on that as we animate tomorrow. Alex and I will be the ones working our butts off tomorrow!

I will be posting pictures soon of anything new we have, keep checking back for more updates!
Here's some more photos showing our workflow and such.

Mike, hard at work. Cluttered Workspace? Not yet.

We're serious mathematicians now! Wait, not really, no. Not at all.
Mike again. Diligence is key.

Andrew, boosting team morale by playing nice calm music that's putting me to slllleeeeeee... zzzzzzzzzzzz

Team discussion. Followed shortly by fisticuffs (aka decision making strategies).

Spinach or Chicken? . . . Chicken.

We just got back from dinner and are trying to get back into the work mode. We were treated with dinner at the Blue Dolphin. We only had the options of Spinach with rice or chicken and rice . . . we all went with the chicken. Now that we are well feed we are ready for the long night we have ahead of us. We are now working towards the final character designs and finishing up the animatic. We ran into a little snag earlier in that our film was going over the 30 seconds mark, so we have been trying to cut out shots, shorten shots, and just keeping everything in a nicely told story. As soon as these two things are done, Andrew will begin making the backgrounds and Nathan will begin rigging the characters.

Here are some photos that we have throughout the day so far . . .

KAFI is a GO!!!

KAFI 2009 has officially started!! We began our day receiving the topic for the competition. This year’s topic was a big surprise and wasn’t anything like we were expecting. Next we were taken to a computer lab and explained how to long into the network and ask any question we may have had about the equipment that is available to us. From there all the teams separated and went their own to develop ideas. We grabbed a computer lab with a big white board, from there we started talking about ideas and drawing them up on the white board. It took us a little while to develop our idea but we believe we picked something that the other teams will not focus on. As of right now we have been working on character designs and on an animatic to get out our story’s timing down. We still have a lot of work ahead of us . . .
